Seven signs this school year for children is ending!

Home / Seven signs this school year for children is ending!

We already know school is coming to a close very soon or for some has already ended, but here are seven tell-tale signs school is over:

  1. Watching movies– teachers show movies during classroom time. Films may focus on subjects that your child’s class studied in the past or are currently studying, or the movie can be purely recreational. Teachers usually do this to clean out their classrooms, and complete necessary paperwork for each students’ next year.
  2. Your child comes home with classwork– Papers from throughout the year–like essays displayed on class bulletin boards or work they completed in class–might start to clutter your child’s school bag. Once again this is the teacher trying to clean out his/her classroom. They might be moving to another room as well. A room shift might happen for a teacher if she is teaching another grade and the school assigns grades per floor, exampUnknown-2le 2nd graders will be on the second floor, third graders on the third floor, etc.
  3. Little to no homework– your child says they don’t have homework anymore, or homework is sparse or doesn’t teach any new topics. At this point, teachers do not usually teach new subjects, and don’t have time to check homework. School administrators may enforce homework every day; this depends on the school.
  4. Frequent field days and trips to the park– you may have received notice or letter that your child will be going to the school park or neighborhood park weekly, or on certain dates. A series of trips offers a time for students to enjoy the weather and being outdoors and give them a break for a full year of challenging work.
  5. More art activities– Teachers will usuUnknown-2ally fill up the school day with fun activities such as art. These subject areas keep students focused on an activity and one that they will enjoy.
  6. Centers that include board games– usually learning center time is more focused on educational activities and reinforces topics students are already learning. Teachers add board games for students’ enjoyment.
  7. Children come home saying that school was fun – This is quite funny to me as a teacher, but sometimes it’s not easy to make every lesson ‘fun,’ teachers make it engaging and enjoyable, but that word ‘fun’ from children is difficult to elicit. Usually, when you ask your child how school was, they say ‘ok’, but since the end of the school year is more laid back, and students grades and promotion are already determined, teachers can choose to host these kinds of activities for their classes.
